Motive Gear’s Dana 44 Rear Differential Mini Spool is a cost-effective alternative to a full spool, replacing the differential’s spider gears and installing into the pre-existing open carrier. This product ties the two axles to the ring gear, applying constant torque to both rear wheels at all times. Though this harms streetability to an extent, it provides far greater off-road traction for far less of a price compared to full spool rear ends.

Improved Traction. Your Jeep comes from the factory with an open rear differential, allowing the two rear wheels to move independently to benefit streetability and navigate tight turns. However, while helpful during everyday street driving, an open rear end drastically reduces off-road traction. A mini spool corrects this issue, forcing power to both rear wheels at all times to allow your Jeep to conquer nearly any obstacle.
