Lowers Carrier Bearing. On many modern pickups, such as your Tacoma, the rear driveshaft is split into two pieces with a chassis-mounted carrier bearing supporting the joint. This design allows for a proper driveline angle with lift kits and suspension flex, affecting the rear of the driveshaft. However, with regular abuse or the installation of a lift kit, the angle from the carrier bearing to the rear differential is often too extreme, stressing the carrier bearing to the point of premature failure. The Rough Country Carrier Bearing Drop Kit spaces the carrier bearing further from the chassis to correct the extreme angle of the driveshaft and reduce the frequency of failures.
